Harvest moon

Japan has 4 distinct seasons. Now is the transition from summer to autumn. We have a custom of viewing the moon in autumn called Tsukimi in Japanese, which means enjoying viewing the full moon. Many Japanese used to be agricultural people even though very few people are involved in cultivating rice today , so it’s busy for the farmers to harvest rice around this time. We appreciate good harvest of rice while offering rice dumplings and Japanese pampas grass, and pray to the moon for an abundant harvest for next year.
